Riceberry: A Bold Brush-Written Font for Fresh Brand Identities

Riceberry in a Café Branding Project: From Logo to Packaging

As a freelance graphic designer, I recently started working on a branding project for a small, plant-based café opening in my neighborhood. The owner wanted a logo and visual identity that felt vibrant, friendly, and full of energy—like a burst of fresh fruit on a summer morning. That’s when I remembered Riceberry, the script handwritten font I had downloaded a few weeks earlier but hadn’t yet tested in a real-world project.

I opened my design board and dropped in a few logo mockups using Riceberry. Right away, the font’s bold, brush-written style caught my eye. It had a dynamic flow and a slightly wild texture that gave the café’s name a lively, organic feel. The fiery red color inspiration behind the font translated well into the brand’s color palette, which leaned into warm, natural tones like berry reds and leafy greens.

Testing Riceberry for Logo Design and Brand Consistency

I started with the logo. The café’s name was short and punchy, so I wanted a font that could stand out without being too ornate. Riceberry worked beautifully in all caps, giving the logo a confident, playful energy. Because it’s a display font, I knew it wasn’t meant for long paragraphs, but as a logo typeface, it delivered the right emotional tone.

One thing I always test early is how a font looks across different brand touchpoints. I dropped Riceberry into a mockup of a takeaway cup, a business card, and a menu board. It scaled surprisingly well. Even at smaller sizes, the bold strokes and clear letterforms held up, making it readable and recognizable. That’s a big plus when working with script handwritten fonts, which can often get lost in translation when scaled down.

Riceberry for Packaging Design and Product Labels

The café also wanted branded packaging—think smoothie bottles, tea bags, and snack pouches. I needed a font that could add personality without looking cluttered or unprofessional. Riceberry turned out to be a great fit here too. I used it sparingly on product labels, mostly for flavor names or special edition tags like “Berry Bliss” or “Tropical Sunrise.”

Because of its refreshing mood and bold brush texture, it gave the packaging a handcrafted, boutique feel. I paired it with a clean sans serif for descriptions and nutritional info, which helped balance the design and maintain readability. This kind of font pairing is essential when using a stylized handwritten font like Riceberry.

Using Riceberry in Social Media Graphics and Digital Branding

Next came the café’s digital presence—Instagram posts, website headers, and email banners. I wanted the brand to feel consistent across both print and digital. I dropped Riceberry into a few Instagram story templates and homepage hero sections. It worked well as a headline font, especially over bright, fresh background images of fruit bowls and smoothie bars.

What I liked most was how the font’s bold brush-written style added visual impact without being overwhelming. It stood out in a feed full of minimalist typography trends, which made the café’s content more eye-catching and memorable. I made sure to use it only for short-form text—headlines, call-to-action buttons, and feature highlights—since it’s not designed for long blocks of copy.

Riceberry in Print Marketing Materials and Event Flyers

As part of the launch campaign, the café planned a soft opening event with a small pop-up market and live music. They needed flyers, posters, and table tents to promote the event. This was a great opportunity to test Riceberry in printed marketing materials.

I used it for the event title and date on the flyer, and paired it with a lighter script font for the details. The contrast between the two styles gave the design a dynamic flow. The bold brush-written texture of Riceberry made the flyer feel energetic and spontaneous—perfect for a casual, community-focused event.

Font Pairing Tips When Using Riceberry in Branding

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned as a designer is that even the best creative font needs a good supporting cast. When using Riceberry in this branding project, I found that pairing it with a minimalist sans serif or a clean serif font helped maintain balance and readability.

For example, in the café’s menu design, I used Riceberry for dish names and a modern sans serif for descriptions. In digital templates like email headers, I used it for headlines and a light cursive font for subheadings. These combinations made the design feel intentional and professional, not just trendy.

What to Check Before Using Riceberry in Client Work

If you’re considering using Riceberry in your own client work or brand project, there are a few practical things to keep in mind:

Most importantly, don’t be afraid to test it in real mockups. A font like Riceberry might look great on screen, but it’s when you see it on a product label, a business card, or a poster that you really understand its personality and impact.

Why Riceberry Works for Fun, Fresh Branding Projects

In the end, the café loved the final brand identity. The combination of Riceberry with clean supporting fonts gave the brand a youthful, vibrant feel that matched their mission perfectly. Whether it’s for a local restaurant, a creative studio, or a product-based business, this bold brush-written font brings a refreshing energy that’s hard to replicate with more traditional typefaces.

If you’re looking for a premium font that adds a playful, artistic touch to your next project, Riceberry is definitely worth exploring. It’s a display font that works well as a logo, headline, or accent typeface—and it’s got the versatility to shine in both print and digital environments.
